Johnson Oscar Olen Johnson, 79, 5155 Old Shell Road, Mobile, Ala., died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was a native of Elizabethton, where he grew up in the Lynn Valley community, and had been a resident of Mobile, Ala., since 1950. He was a son of the late James Weyman and Elsie Caroline Hampton Johnson and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Johnson and Grady Johnson. Mr. Johnson was the retired owner and operator of Johnson's Garage, Mobile. He was a graduate of Elizabethton (TN) High School and Northeast Junior College, Monroe, La. , and was a World War II Army veteran, where he served in the European Theater. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Miller Johnson, and a sister, Dorothy Vee Johnson Nave, Kingsport. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, (423) 928-6111, is in charge of arrangements. JOHNSON -- Funeral services for Oscar Olen Johnson, 79, 5155 Old Shell Road, Mobile, Ala., who died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, from the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Roland Brown officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Kingsport VFW Post #3382. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Melton, Jess Miller Jr., Kevin Melton, Richard Street, Montie Nelson and Wayne Strong. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Wesley Plaza Suite 2, 2513 Wesley Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
