CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Polly James Johnson, 22 Aug 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Polly J. Johnson Polly James Johnson, W. Mill Street, Elizabethton, died Friday, August 22, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Boone, N.C., and the daughter of the late William M. and Callie Miller James. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Johnson, two sisters, Lahoma Taylor and Margaret Greenwell, and two brothers, Jesse James and Vilas Miller. Mrs. Johnson was of the Baptist faith. She was owner/operator of Betsy Beauty Salon and had been an instructor for Paul's School of Hair Design. She was a member of National Hairdressers Association and was also a member of Order of Eastern Star #163. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sherry Johnson, Blountville, a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Joseph Broyles, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Becky Jenkins, Gray; three grandsons, Tim Vines and Aron Johnson, both of Jonesborough, and Dewey Johnson, Johnson City; four great-grandchildren, Landon Jenkins and Lauryn Jenkins, both of Gray, Meghan Vines and Andrew Vines, both of Jonesborough; a sister, Ethel Biggs, of Johnson City, and special friends, Jean Shelton, Germaine Greer, Eula Mae Morrell and Liza Moore, all of Elizabethton. The funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, August 25, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Page officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kim Garland. Committal and entombment services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the emergency room doctors and nurses at Johnson City Medical Center, I.C.U. and 3300 Wing at Johnson City Medical Center, and Jim Leslie. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 201 Mill Street, Elizabethton, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Sunday or from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.
