Mrs. Virginia Mabel Richardson Jones, 83, Big Springs Road, 
Elizabethton, died Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Hermitage Health 
Center following a lengthy illness. 
Mrs. Jones was a native of Cabell County, W.Va., and a daughter of 
the late Alf and Mary L. Ward Richardson. She was also preceded in 
death by her husband, Fred D. Jones, and brothers and sisters. 
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, James H. and 
Wanda Jones, Kingsport, Robert Jones, Elizabethton, Fred and Judy Jones, 
Johnson City, and Danny C. and Joan Jones, Elizabethton; two daughters 
and a son-in-law, Geraldine and Howard Smith, Morganton, N.C., and Paula 
M. Grindstaff, Elizabethton. Twelve grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 
and several nieces and nephews also survive. 
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, January 19, in the 
Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Kyker 
officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 
a.m. Tuesday, January 20, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers 
will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 
from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Friends may call at the 
residence, 261 Big Springs Road, Elizabethton, at any time. Everyone will 
meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday for the graveside service. Online
