CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Clifford Edward Kress, 7 April 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Clifford Edward Kress, 74, Bull Dog Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Kress was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Samuel and Clara Ensor Kress. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley and Pauline Kress. Mr. Kress was a retired employee of Tri-State Containers. He attended Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Cleo Stout Kress; two sons, Malcolm Kress, Johnson City, and Joel Kress, Elizabethton; four sisters, Juanita Graham, Thelma Sansom, Jeweleen Ingram and Lela "Tootie" Stout, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Lisa Laughlin, Unicoi, Amy Martinez and Shaun Kress, both of Elizabethton, and Brian Kress, Phoenix, Ariz.; and a great-grandchild, Darius Kress. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, April 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Richardson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, in the Kress Cemetery. Music will be provided by Edwin Taylor, organist. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, will be Douglas Graham, Jimmy Graham, Shaun Kress, Matthew Laughlin, Kenneth Lowe, Ray Whitehead, Larry Bowers and Robert Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher, Lawrence Hodge, Jerry Weaver, J.L. Stout, Aubrey Ensor, Jimmy Ensor, Glen Campbell, Earl Graham, Richard "Jar Fly" Dugger, R.C. Nidiffer, Allen Richardson, J.D. Livingston, Thurl Graham, Denton Sansom, Garrett Hazen Street, Glen Ensor, Owen Grindstaff, Roy Richardson, Bill Cole, J.N. Taylor, Billy Bob Garrison and Norman Ingram. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Saturday.
