Walnut Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, January 21, 1999, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Kyker was a lifelong resident of Elizabethton and a daughter of Alice D. Bailey, Elizabethton, and the late George Bailey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sherrill Kyker, in 1992. Mrs. Kyker was a homemaker. She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include three sons, Robert Lynn Kyker, Eddie Kyker and Richard Kyker, all of Elizabethton; a daughter, Karen Sue Proffitt, Elizabethton; two brothers, Stanley and Julian Bailey, both of Elizabethton; three sisters, Betty Ford, Elizabethton, Mary Calhoun, Cleveland, Ohio, and Cleo Kelly, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Amy Perry, Eddie Kyker Jr., Robert Alan Kyker and Richard Steven Kyker, all of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Seffie Dugger, Elizabeth Canny, Rosalee Stevens, Carolyn White, Pat Church, Linda Hughes, Hilda Winans and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. KYKER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Kyker, 72, 825 N. Walnut Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, were held at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hathaway- Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Steve Burleson and Rev. Kenneth Kyker officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Sam Hopson, Gene Bowman, Albert Oliver, Bobby Bailey, Jonathan Wilcox, Jimmy Kelly, Josh Arnold and Billy Lockner. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Treadway, Howard Kyker, Charlie Rains, Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Lester Kelly and Danny Fillers. The family, friends, ministers and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday evening. Friends may also call at the residence any time. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
