CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Martin Eugene Kyte, 3 Jan 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Martin E. Kyte Martin Eugene Kyte, 75, Williamsburg, Va., died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, following a long illness. Mr. Kyte was born on May 12, 1927, in Elizabethton, Tenn., the son of the late Alvin Nathan Kyte and Nettie Holly Smith. He was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Verlin Walter, Gladys Inez Westmoreland, George Emmert, Clay Brownlow, Dana Harmon, Edward George Washington, F.D., and Kathleen. Mr. Kyte was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific in the United States Navy. Following the war, he began a long career in the United States Army, working at the Fort Eustis commissary, where he rose to become manager of the meat market, until retirement. Mr. Kyte was a Christian and a member of Grace Baptist Church, 1013 Penniman Road, Williamsburg. Survivors include his wife of more than 51 years, Betty Jean Campbell Kyte; five children, Gregory Eugene and wife Debra Ann (Weatherly), Russell Lin and wife Philippia Happy (Hull), and Christopher Jason and wife Shannan Dyan (Walsh), all of Williamsburg; John Martin and wife Kathy Jean (Faile), Gloucester and Karen Grace and husband Michael Patrick Helderman, Richmond; six grandchildren, John Benjamin, Adam Grayson, Spencer Lee, Trevor Michael Helderman, James Harrison, and Daniel Patrick Helderman; two brothers, Floyd Ward Kyte, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and James Webb Kyte, Elizabethton, Tenn.; and a special brother-in-law, Bobby Lee Campbell and wife Judy Mae Carlene Harmon, Johnson City, Tenn.
