Rugg INVERNESS, Fla. -- Mrs. Shirley Hinkle Rugg, 70, of 615 Melody Street, Inverness, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2006, at University Hospital in Jacksonville. Mrs. Rugg was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Robert and Myrtle Hinkle. She had lived in Jonesborough, Tenn., for a number of years before returning to her home in Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Jr. and Rhondal Hinkle. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved making crafts and cooking, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ben Rugg, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Gary Schieferflin, Laurie and Jimmy McDermott, all of Palm Coast, and Benjie and Steven Suarez of Jacksonville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Rugg of Ridge Manor and Kenneth Rugg of Tampa; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Roma June and Rev. Bobby Merritt and Linda and Dennis Fletcher, all of Elizabethton, Tenn., Helen and Darrell Smith and Royslene Fletcher, all of Inverness. Eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. A memorial service for Mrs. Rugg will be held at a later date at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2119 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Fla., with Mrs. Ruggs' brother-in-law, Rev. Bobby Merritt, officiating.
