Lunceford Charlie C. Lunceford, age 81, Ivy Hall Nursing Home (formerly of 2043 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord Friday, July 20, 2007, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home, following an extended illness. He was a Carter County native and a son of the late Major P. and Delia Wilson Lunceford. Mr. Lunceford was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and had worked for the City of Elizabethton as a mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Mr. Lunceford was a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166 and charter member of the Carter County Emergency and Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lovie Thomas Lunceford; second wife, Rachel Greenwell Lunceford; one sister, Della Rey Clemons; and one brother, Emmert Lunceford. Survivors include one daughter, Rosella Perkins, one son and daughter-in- law, Roger Allen and Monica Lunceford, all of Elizabethton, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mr. Lunceford will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with the Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sounds of Victory. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday in the chapel prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166. Those attending are welcome to meet the family at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
