CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Riley E. Lacey, 30 Oct 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Riley E. Lacey, 92, Smalling Rd., Watauga, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the last surviving child of the late James A. and Nannie Feathers Lacey. Mr. Lacey was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister; his wife, Wanda Hughes Lacey, on November 24, 2003, and a son, Kenneth Lee Lacey, on January 26, 2004. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Watauga, where he had served as deacon, treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and on various committees. Mr. Lacey was a former employee of Rayon Mills, Elizabethton, and Smythe Electric. Survivors include a grandson, Greg Lacey, Watauga; a granddaughter, Tiffany Lacey, Elizabethton, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Cloyd Lacey, Elizabethton. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Rex Ward and Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. The graveside service and burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Monte Vista Burial Park, Johnson City. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. A special "thank you" is extended to the following honorary pallbearers for all the love, care, and support shown to the Lacey family: Mike Lingerfelt, Rev. Rex Ward, W.E. Hughes, Bob Hughes, Jennifer Steele, Nina Harrell, Debbie Stout, Renee Buckles, Gwynn Mathes, Sandra Perkins, and Janet Kennedy.
