Gertrude Lane
 
Gertrude Lane, 87, Broad Street Extension, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, 
August 12, 2003, at The Cambridge House, Bristol, Va., following a brief 
illness.
Mrs. Lane was a native of Welch, W.Va., and the daughter of the late William 
Milton and Bertha Elizabeth Patterson Woody. She was also preceded in death 
by three sisters.
Mrs. Lane was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church, Elizabethton. She 
was an RN, having previously worked at the Franklin Clinic and the Carter 
County Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Earl Lane, of the home; a son, Thomas 
Banner, Elizabethton; a stepson, Ronald Lane, of Texas; a stepdaughter, Esther 
Herd, of Texas; and a sister, Demple Jones, of Ohio. 
The funeral service for Mrs. Lane will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, August 
15, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Stout 
officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. 
Saturday, August 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at 
the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Saturday for the graveside service. The family 
will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends
