Lattimer Gerlean Anna Lattimer, 80, formerly of Courtyard Apartments, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. "Bob" and Debra K. Lattimer, Bluff Pointe Drive, Chaska, Minn., following an extended illness. Mrs. Lattimer was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late John F. McGuire Sr. and Texia Church McGuire. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Alma Gray, Virginia McGuire and Sylvia Lane, and two brothers, Estill McGuire and Eustace McGuire. Mrs. Lattimer had lived in Cleveland, Ohio for several years before moving to Rome, Ga., where she retired from Pharr Yarns in Rome and returned to Elizabethton. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church where she was involved with the Women's Mission Programs. She was an avid quilter and seamstress. She had moved to Minnesota in December 2001. Survivors, in addition to her son and daughter-in-law, include a grandson, Marcus A. Lattimer, Wooster, Ohio; a granddaughter, Jessica L. Lattimer, of the home; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Russell McGuire, John F. McGuire Jr. and Ruth McGuire, all of Cleveland, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Lela McGuire, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be conducted in Elizabethton next week. Arrangements will be announced later. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge.
