CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Lou Ella S. Leonard, 19 Jun 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Lou Ella S. Leonard Mrs. Lou Ella S. Leonard, 92, Spring Street, Hampton, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following a long illness. Mrs. Leonard was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Manley E. and Myrtle Lambert Sorrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Robert Leonard, in 1982; two sons, James Norman Leonard and Donald Franklin Leonard; two brothers, James I. Sorrell and Lambert V. Sorrell; and a sister, Lois Harvey. Mrs. Leonard was a former employee of American Bemberg Corporation and a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Hampton Garden Club and the Hampton Chapter #470 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include three brothers, Lon E. Sorrell, Winston-Salem, N.C., and twin brothers, Luther Sorrell, Ocala, Fla., and Lewis Sorrell, Sun City, Calif.; a sister, Lorraine Baker, Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Norman Leonard, Hampton; and three grandchildren, Teresa Hyder, Unicoi, Angela Williamson, Jonesborough, and James Norman Leonard II, Erwin. Seven great- grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Leonard, 92, Spring Street, Hampton, who died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. James Archer and the Rev. Mickey Beal officiating. Music will be by Jerry Barnett, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Hyder, Marion Hyder, Jeff Williamson, Johnathen Woods, James Woods, Gary Leonard, Dewayne Calhoun and Terry Brumitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Sorrell, Charles Gilbert, Clyde Fuller, Kenneth Leonard, Paul Leonard, Cecil Hyder, Larry Hyder, James Norman Leonard II, the Rev. Haskel Ingram, the Rev. Bobby Stout, Walter Teague, members of Hampton Chapter #470 of the Order of the Eastern Star and Lent Ellington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Friends may also call at the residence of a granddaughter, Teresa Hyder, 6011 Simerly Creek Road, Unicoi, at any time.
