CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - John H. Lewis Jr., 27 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- John H. Lewis Jr., 87, Smalling Road, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2004, in the Christian Ministries Hospice, Riverdale, Ga. Mr. Lewis was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a son of the late John H. Lewis Sr. and Nora Presley Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters. Mr. Lewis was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation, Elizabethton, and a member of King Springs Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Mildred "Patsy" Hughes Lewis; a son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Freddie Lewis, Griffin, Ga.; two granddaughters, Carla Walsh and Tracey Baker, both of Griffin. Ga.; two great-granddaughters; three brothers and three sisters, Herbert Lewis, G.W. Lewis, Bruce Lewis, Ruth Netherly, Alma Brown and Virginia Booth, all of the Johnson City area; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted 8 p.m. Friday, January 30, in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday. Ministers from King Springs Church of Christ will officiate. The committal service and interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Friends are invited to meet the family at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
