CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mary L. Lewis, 14 Apr 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mary L. Lewis, 83, formerly of Central Drive, Johnson City, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Life Care Center of Elizabethton, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late, David and Minnie Hamby Jones. She was a homemaker and member of King Springs Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lewis, in 1991; a daughter, Patsy Adams-Hollifield; four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Max Irick, Charleston, S.C.; Karen and Tim Robey, Johnson City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence R. and Phyllis Lewis, Johnson City; John D. and Claudette Lewis, Millington, Tenn.; Eddie and Alethia Lewis, Hampton; one sister and brother-in-law, Ola and Carl Hicks, Elizabethton; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Mr. Tim Ross, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home chapel prior to the funeral service or friends may call at the residence of a daughter, Karen Robey, 130 Von Cannon Drive, Elizabethton, any time. The graveside service and burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Genie Buck, Randy Maddox, Jim Little, Dr. Jerry Gastineau and the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m. on Saturday.
