CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Christine Gouge Lewis, 30 Sep 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Christine G. Lewis Mrs. Christine Gouge Lewis, 91, Smalling Road, Johnson City, died Thursday, September 30, 2004, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nora Buchanan Gouge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Lewis, in 1990, a sister, Zemma Cates, and two brothers, Waitsel Gouge and Hildred Gouge. Mrs. Lewis was formerly employed by the Carter County School System. She was a member of Central Church of Christ. Survivors include three children, B.J. and his wife, Anne Lewis; Dr. Shirley Morgan and her husband, Dr. Monroe T. Morgan, and Stanley Thomas and his wife, Brenda Lewis, all of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Monte Morgan, Johnson City, Gwynneth and her husband, Larry Peck, Kingsport, Michael and his wife, Kelly Lewis, Elizabethton, Marcus and his wife, Katrien Morgan, League City, Texas, Shane and his wife, Becky Lewis, Johnson City, and Dr. Catherine Theobald and her husband, Dr. Douglas Theobald, Boulder, Colo.; and seven great-grandchildren, Natasha Morgan, Megan Peck, Ethan Peck, Karlye Fuller, Gabriella Lewis, Japheth Theobald and Brooke Morgan. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2004, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Jaynes and Dr. Edwin Lewis officiating. Music will be under the direction of Barbara Forbes Zeidan and June Forbes Johnson. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Monte Morgan, Michael Lewis, Marcus Morgan, Shane Lewis, Larry Peck and Douglas Theobald. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Relatives and friends may call at the residences of her daughter, Dr. Shirley Morgan, or her sons, B.J. Lewis or Tommy Lewis, all of Smalling Road, Johnson City.
