A Carter County native, he was the son of the late Jacob B. and Mamie Banner Lunceford. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lunceford, and a sister, Bonnie Miller. Mr. Lunceford was retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 17 years, during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post No. 2166. He was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Davis Lunceford, of the home, two sisters, Beulah Cordell, Elizabethton, and Helen Davis, Hampton, and several nieces and nephews. Tommy Haynes officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001, in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Captain Lynn H. Folsom, V.F.W. Post No. 2166. Active pallbearers will be L.J. Heaton, John Miller, Wayne Miller, Roger Miller, Jerry Miller and Bud Hazelwood. Honorary pallbearers will be E.C. Miller, Don Miller, Herman Davis, Ray Birchfield, Harvey Tester, Wayne Ward, George Hazelwood, Sheriff John Henson, Emory Cordell, Dale Cordell, Scott Davis, Cecil Davis, Bob Kennemore, Dean Reece, Earl Dugger, Ray Evans and men of Rittertown Baptist church. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in the Fireside Room of Tetrick funeral Home.
