CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rachel S. Lunceford, 18 Jul 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Rachel S. Lunceford, 87, formerly of Bristol Highway, Bullocks Hollow Community, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home from an extended illness. Mrs. Lunceford was a native of Watauga County, N.C., but spent most of her life in Carter County. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Carie Montgomery Greenwell and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Malone. Mrs. Lunceford was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Charlie C. Lunceford, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton; one step-daughter, Rose Perkins, Elizabethton; one step-son and spouse, Roger and Monica Lunceford, Elizabethton; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Katie Scalf, Elizabethton, and Dolly and Frank Malone, Bluff City. Seven step-grandchildren and 13 step-great- grandchildren also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bobby Stout and Rev. Horace Bowers officiating. Music will be under the direction of The Sounds of Victory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service in the chapel. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, in the Malone Cemetery, Bullocks Hollow Community. Active pallbearers will be Michael Perkins, Lonnie Turner, Frank Ellis and other selected family and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Friends may call at the residence of a sister, Katie Scalf, 148 Old Stoney Creek Road, Elizabethton, at any time.
