CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rebecca "Becky" Livingston, 24 Nov 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Rebecca Livingston Rebecca "Becky" Livingston, 78, Morey Hyder Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, November 24, 2003 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earl S. and Mary Alice Lyons Simerly. She was a retired employee of Kennemetal, Inc. after 17 years of service. Mrs. Livingston was a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jay and Howard Simerly. Survivors include her husband, Albert H. Livingston; three daughters, Linda Briggs, of Mars Hill, N.C.; Janet Hulsey, of Gray, and Sherry Townsend, of Johnson City; three sons, Buzz Livingston, of Elizabethton; Mike Livingston, of Telford, and Greg Livingston, of Johnson City; six sisters, Gladys Blevins and Anna Julian, both of Roan Mountain; Billie Birchfield, of Cloverdale, Calif.; Roby Sloop and Ella Simerly, both of Taylorsville, N.C., and Betty Taylor, of Elizabethton; one brother, Johnny Simerly, of Taylorsville, N.C.; a special sister-in-law, Edeth Simerly, Hampton; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 27, 2003 in the McKeehan Cemetery. Special music will be under the direction of Brenda Deloach. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday will be Wade Mathes, Charlie Byrd, Phil Briggs, Mike Livingston, Jeff Hill and Buzz Livingston. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Ward, Bruce Hill and Tommy Hyder. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to the Livingston family at mfc@chartertn.net.
