CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Melvin A. Livingston, 1 May 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Melvin A. Livingston, age 79, of Powder Branch Rd., Elizabethton, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Nursing Home Care Unit, Mountain Home, following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late John and Vistula McKeehan Livingston. Mr. Livingston was a retired employee of Jarl, and was a former Body and Fender man. He was a U.S Army veteran serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict, and received a Purple Heart during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Powder Branch Baptist Church. Mr. Livingston was preceded in death by a sister Ruth McKnight, and six brothers, Ray, Murry, J.B., Ira, Delbert and Glen Livingston. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Smith Livingston, of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Gilda and Teddy Reed, Elizabethton, and Judy Scalf, Elizabethton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Vivian and Tony Bowman, of King, N.C.; Helen and Jim Harrington, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Annie Livingston, Winston-Salem, N.C.; five grandchildren and spouses, Melanie and Kenneth McAllister, Johnson City; Stephanie and Chris Grindstaff, Elizabethton; Jena and Franklin Ortega, Elizabethton; William and Chessie Shoun, Roan Mountain; Jeremy Reed, Weatherford, Texas; three great grandchildren, Tre Shoun, Roan Mountain; Jordon Reed, Elizabethton, and Liliana Ortega, Elizabethton.
