CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ralph E. Livingston, 5 Sep 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mr. Ralph E. Livingston, 80, McKeehan Ridge Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, September 5, 2004 in the V.A. Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late David and Bertha McKeehan Livingston. He was a retired Nursing Assistant from the V.A. Medical Center with 35 years of service and was a member of Powder Branch Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Wayne, Arnold, J.B., Delbert, Ira, Ray and Melvin and one sister, Mary Ruth McKnight. Survivors include his wife, Una Stone Livingston, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jackie Livingston, Johnson City, and Bob and Kathy Livingston, Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Darin, of Telford, and his fiancé Michelle, Elizabethton; Chad, Johnson City; Karen and her husband Chris, Johnson City; David, Elizabethton; Michelle, Jonesborough and Jessica, Johnson City; five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Katie and Jacob, all of Johnson City; Lindsey and Dalton, both of Jonesborough; three sisters, Annie Livingston, Vivian Bowman and Helen Harington, all of Winston-Salem, N.C. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Ralph E. Livingston will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. John Perkins and Rev. James Archer officiating. Music will be under the direction of Michelle Williams and Darin Livingston. Graveside service and burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2004 in McKeehan Cemetery, Powder Branch community. Military honors will be accorded by the Tennessee Army National Guard. Active pallbearers will be Lee Hubbard, Ora Hyder, David Hyder, Harold Shepard, Chad Livingston, Teddy Reed, Toby Williams and Chris Surcey. Sincere thanks to Dr. Tony Katras, Dr. Daniel Rush, the surgical residents and nursing staff of Ward CG and the surgical Intensive Care Unit at the V.A. Medical Center Hospital for their compassion and professional care during our time of loss. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday or at the residence 363 McKeehan Ridge Road, Elizabethton at any time. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
