Lyons 01/05/99 Clarence A. "Jack" Lyons, 83, 405 West H Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, January 4, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an illness of two years. Mr. Lyons was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Rev. Peter L. and Martha Nicholas Lyons. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Mr. Lyons was retired from the Holston Defense Corporation, Kingsport. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Director and former chairman of the House & Grounds Committee. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Greer Lyons; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Lyons Dail and Bill Dail, Clinton, and Joan Lyons Bennett, Knoxville; a son and daughter-in-law, Mack R. and Patsy Lyons, Elizabethton; and two sisters, Mrs. Lenorah Clemons, Jonesborough, and Mrs. Beulah Copeland, of California. Six grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. LYONS -- Funeral services for Clarence A. "Jack" Lyons, 83, 405 West H Street, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joe Sorah officiating. The Calvary Baptist Church Choir will provide the music. Entombment services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Richard Lyons, David Lyons, Brady Williams, Mike Wilson, Kevin Sparks, Larry Snellings, Richard Gray and Dr. Haymond Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Holston Defense Corporation's Explosives Maintenance Department, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Andersen, Dr. Eugene Galloway, Dr. Daniel Paul and members of Calvary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
