Mr. Lyons was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Mack and Tessie A. Lyons. He was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild. Mr. Lyons was a retired mechanic. He was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Lyons; two daughters, Betty V. Heard, Leonardtown, Md., and Cheryl A. Morgan, Mechanicsville, Md.; three sisters, Lela Heaton, Roan Mountain, Pearl Owens, Morganton, N.C., and Linda Gouge, Erwin; three brothers, Elbert Lyons, Hampton, Earl Lyons, Roan Mountain, and Herman Lyons, Valdese, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, George E. Morgan, Crystal Morgan, Katherine Morgan, Dona Kay Spalding, Tommy Lynn Heard, Karen M. Heard and Jenny M. Heard. Four great- grandchildren, one aunt and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. LYONS -- Funeral services for Byrl Lyons, 73, 517 Old Railroad Grade, Roan Mountain, who died Saturday, March 17, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Coonce and the Rev. Jerry Honeycutt officiating. Jim and Judy Church will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, in the Lacy Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, will be Doug Heaton, Roy LaValley Jr., Killiam Offenbacker, Kenneth Owens, George Isenbery and Sammy Owens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
