Maupin Dessiree H. Maupin, 85, formerly of 1110 King Springs Road, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mrs. Maupin was a native of Carter County and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Harrison and Eliza Holloway Hardin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Maupin, in 1979; three sisters, Verna Hardin, Carsey Hardin and Wanda Lyons; five brothers, Dana, Chocy, Smith, Chester and Warren Hardin; a grandson, Ronnie Lynn Maupin; and one great-grandson. Mrs. Maupin was retired from North American Rayon Corporation, Elizabethton, and was a member of the Johnson City Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rev. Eddie and Janice Maupin of Newport, Gary and Ruth Maupin of Johnson City and Ronnie Maupin of Telford; a brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Beulah Hardin of Elizabethton; a sister, Arcy Triebe of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Denise Maupin of Johnson City, Gregory and Donavan Maupin of North Carolina, and Jennifer and Landon Maupin of Johnson City. Two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Maupin will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, November 9, from the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, with the Rev. Jack Maupin and the Rev. Jeff Spears officiating. Vocal selections will be provided by Queenie Wheeler. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 10, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 9:50 a.m. for this service. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
