McEwen Helen Range McEwen, 85, 2101 Christian Lane, Johnson City, formerly of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord and her beloved husband on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Cleveland J. and Winnie Daves Range. Mrs. McEwen was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton and was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling with her husband. She was a member of the Elizabethton Women's Club, the Elizabethton Golf Club, the D.A.R., the P.E.O., AARP and the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid golfer and also enjoyed playing Bridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. McEwen, in 1988, and a sister, Mary. Survivors include a cousin, Anne Jenkins of Oak Ridge, Tenn., as well as several nieces, nephews and additional cousins. The funeral service for Mrs. McEwen will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Morrow officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Graveside services and interment will immediately follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. To those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Philosophic Education Organization (P.E.O.), c/o Jane Anne Thomas, 903 Tulip Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
