Martha R. McKinney 





    Martha Ruth Clark McKinney, 72, 997 Fairview Road, Hampton, died Friday, 

March 2, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. 





    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Ethel 

Cochran Clark. 





    Mrs. McKinney was of the Baptist faith. 





    In addition to her parents, Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by two 

sisters, Betty Jean Byrd and Aileen "Bernice" Street. 





    Survivors include her husband of 51 years, John L. McKinney; a son, Ricky 

L. McKinney of Hampton; a daughter and son-in-law, Reva and Jeff Brummitt of 

Unicoi; her grandchildren, Christy Smith, Heather Calhoun, Jason McKinney and 

Karen Erickson; and a brother, Gerald Clark of Elizabethton. Six great-

grandchildren also survive. 





    Funeral services for Mrs. McKinney will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, 

March 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. B.F. McKinney Jr. 

officiating. Music will be provided by the Piney Grove Singers. Graveside 

services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at McKinney 

Cemetery (Voyd Holtsclaw Road). Active pallbearers, who are requested to 

assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, will be Bob Street, Brice 

Erickson, Kinney McKinney, Jason McKinney, Vaughn Simerly Sr. and Vaughn 

Simerly Jr. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the 

funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will 

assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
