Ira L. Miller 





    Ira Lou Miller, 84, 206 Smith Street, Erwin, passed away Tuesday, January 

30, 2007, at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. 





    Mrs. Miller was the daughter of the late Sam and Ollie Brewer Birchfield. 

She was a native of Carter County and had lived in Unicoi County since 1974. 





    Mrs. Miller was a former employee of Southern Pottery. She was a member of 

Southside Free Will Baptist Church. 





    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and 

four sisters. 





    Survivors include her husband of over 64 years, Phil Miller; a brother and 

sister-in-law, Frank and Florence Birchfield of Carter County; and several 

nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. 





    Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 

1, in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Laws and the 

Rev. Ulis Miller officiating. Music will be provided by The Southside Trio and 

Inez Chandler. Active pallbearers will be Scott Bradford, David Pauley, 

Kenneth Phillips, Terry Bradford, Keith Davis and Joshua Davis. Honorary 

pallbearers will be Steve Tipton, J.E. "Baldy" Bennett, Clyde Griffith, 

Clifford Miller, Clyde Peake and Stacey Robinson. Graveside services will be 

held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, at Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin. The family, 

ministers, pallbearers and friends are requested to assemble at the cemetery 

by 10:50 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 

6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and other times at the home of her nephew, Ted Davis, 

2394 Temple Hill Road, Erwin. Online condolences may be sent to the family at
