Street, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, on Monday, October 30, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Montgomery was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Roosevelt and Delray Cook Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Juanita Ward Montgomery, January 30, 2004, and two brothers, George Montgomery and David Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and was retired from Raytheon where he worked as a machinist. He was an avid antique car collector and restorer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Helton of Rogersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Angela Montgomery of Johnson City; a step-grandson, Chris Glass of Johnson City; a brother, John Montgomery of Johnson City; and three sisters, Sarah Jane Reed, Nellie Harris and Anna Belle Green, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Montgomery will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Dale Greenwell officiating. Music will under the direction of the Montgomery Family. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors being accorded by the Capt. Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be Randy Montgomery, David Montgomery, Jerry Montgomery, Michael Huffman, Keith Huffman and Larry Stout. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Wagner and Josh Walker. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, and at other times at the residence, 714 West G. Street, Elizabethton. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Medical Center Hospice Services, 101 Med Tech Parkway, Suite 101, Johnson City, TN 37604.
