Morrell Jack D. Morrell, 70, 701 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at his residence following an extended illness. He was a Carter County native, born to the late Ross and Gladys Elizabeth Estep Morrell. Mr. Morrell was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and worked at Raytheon for 16 years and at North American Rayon Corporation as a supervisor for 14 years. He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Chapter #1847. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jackie and Jeffery Morrell, and a sister, Charlotte Cook. Survivors include a son, Eddie Morrell, Sevierville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Becky and Gary Goldstein, Johnson City, and Vicky Morrell, Oak Ridge; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Griggs, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a special niece, Risha Cook, Johnson City; and his beloved companions and caregivers, Kathy Morrell and Grace Simmons, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Morrell will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Eddie Morrell officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be David Smith, Rick Broome, Horace "Bubba" Broome Jr., Jerry Jenkins, Gary Hatley, Cecil Whitehead and David Andes. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis and Wanda Barnett, Kay and D.L. Moody, Dr. Harold Lane, David Bautista, Gene Sparks, Horace Broome Sr. and Annis Deal. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County, 104 Hudson Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
