Morris Mr. Travis C. Morris, 77, 400 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home, following an extended illness. Mr. Morris was a native of Carter County and a former resident of Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of the late Fred and Lucy Nidiffer Morris and was of the Christian faith. He was a retired foreman with the Cleveland Cement Company where he worked for 30 years. Mr. Morris was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by four brothers, Max, Wayne, Paul and Rex Morris. Mr. Morris is survived by two daughters, Wendy Morris of the home, and Rona Arrington, Johnson City; a son, Tracey Morris, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Amber Morris, Elizabethton, Dustin Arrington and Samantha Arrington Johnson City, T.J. Morris of the home, and Zackarey Morris, Johnson City; one great-grandson, Patrick Ian Honaker, Elizabethton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ivade and Joe Taylor, Elizabethton, and Lillian Pierce, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Morris will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Charles Humphreys and the Rev. Paul Rouse officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Forgiven Trio. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6-8 p.m., Monday night prior to the service and at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Capt. Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
