CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Carolyn G. Maines, 18 Jul 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Carolyn G. Maines Carolyn G. Maines, 79, Fairview Street, Elizabethton, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Maines was a native of Bluff City and had lived in Elizabethton most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Clarence "Casey" and Effie Hodge Jones and was also preceded in death by a son, the Rev. James D. Maines, in 1990. Mrs. Maines was a graduate of Bluff City High School and Bristol Business College. She worked for Montgomery Ward for 10 years and retired from the Carter County Trustee's Office after 30 years of service. She was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, Hampton, and had previously served East Side Free Will Baptist Church as pianist and church treasurer for several years. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, James F. Maines; two sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Gary and Ann Maines, Centreville, Va., and the Rev. Tom and Sherry Maines, Elizabethton; a former daughter-in-law, Janice Maines Garland, Elizabethton; two brothers, Bobby Jones, Bristol, and Clarence Jones Jr., Bluff City; eight grandchildren, Tabetha and her husband, Michael Graybeal, and Veronica and her husband, Troy Graybeal, all of Elizabethton, Andrea and her husband, the Rev. Mark Ousley, Nashville, Michael Maines, Matthew Maines, Adam Maines, Mitchell Maines and Aaron Maines, all of Centreville, Va.; and a great-granddaughter, Destie Graybeal, Elizabethton. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. MAINES -- Funeral services for Carolyn G. Maines, 79, Fairview Street, Elizabethton, who went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Maines, the Rev. Tom Maines and the Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Ann Maines and the congregation. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, will be Troy Graybeal, Michael Graybeal, Mark Ousley, Michael Maines, Matthew Maines, Adam Maines, Mitchell Maines and Aaron Maines. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Maines to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
