Mr. Malone was a native of Sullivan County and a son of the late Sam and Nannie Massengill Malone. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Malone was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and a member of the Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Whitehead Malone; one daughter, Sherry Morton, Hampton; one son, Sam Malone, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Kristy Nelson, Ryan Honeycutt, Autum Morton, Sam Malone Jr. and Amber Malone; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Malone, Bluff City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. MALONE -- Funeral services for Odell Malone, 75, 3115 Gap Creek Road, Hampton, who died Tuesday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Shane Waters and Rev. Sam Ferguson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends attending the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Whitehead, Ed Whitehead, Narvel Whitehead, Paul Hinkle, George Roberson, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Dr. Kyle Colvett, Dr. Ashok Mehta and the Intensive Care Nursing Staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
