Maugans 1/04/00 Mrs. Martha Lacey Maugans, 100 Netherland Lane, Kingsport, died Sunday, January 2, 2000, at Netherland Health Care Center at Baysmont after a short illness. Mrs. Maugans was a native of Carter County and had resided in Kingsport for the past 14 years. She was a daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Nannie Morrell Lacey and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Wright, in 1955, and Dwight L. Maugans, in 1973. Mrs. Maugans was a former member of Oak Street Baptist Church where she served as church librarian for 17 years. She was presently a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport and was former treasurer for the Watauga Baptist Association of Carter and Johnson counties for over 21 years. She was a charter member and treasurer of the Carter County Memorial Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary with twelve thousand hours of volunteer work to her credit. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Jr. and Anna Lacey, Johnson City, and a sister, Gladys Lacey, North Miami, Fla. Three nieces and six nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, (423) 543-5544, is in charge of arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Hathaway-Percy MAUGANS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Lacey Maugans, 100 Netherland Lane, Kingsport, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Mitchell Whisnant officiating. There will be a private interment at Happy Valley Memorial Park on Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Tomlinson, Clarence Bryan, Melvin Johnson, Fred Thornton, Howard "Barney" Fondren, Ray Williams and Thomas Milhorn Sr. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Library Fund, c/o Asbury Center at Baysmont, 100 Netherland Lane, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660. A memorial service for Mrs. Maugans will be held at Baysmont on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
