Maupin Jr. George H. Maupin Jr., 89, 606 Maryetta Avenue, Elizabethton, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Hillview Health Center, Elizabethton. Mr. Maupin was a native of Washington County and a son of the late George H. Maupin Sr. and Mattie Nidiffer Maupin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alma McCracken Maupin, February 12, 1998, and by two sisters and two brothers. Mr. Maupin had lived most of his life in Elizabethton. He was a retired service station operator, having operated service stations in Elizabethton for more than 50 years. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238, the R.D. Keller Chapter No. 214, the B.E. Wooten Council No. 119, The Carter Commandery No. 37 and the Jericho Shrine Temple, Kingsport. He was a 33rd Degree Mason. Mr. Maupin was a Charter Member of the Elizabethton Golf Club and a member of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge No. 1847. He attended the First Church of God. Survivors include two sons, Lee Maupin, Elizabethton, and Bob Maupin, Kingsport; three sisters, Hazel Campbell and Betty Shouse, both of Elizabethton, and Dorothy Brady, Conover, N.C.; and a brother, James Maupin, Elizabethton. Seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. MAUPIN -- Funeral services for George H. Maupin Jr., 89, 606 Maryetta Avenue, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, March 10, 2002, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Eads officiating. Interment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected family members. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
