CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - John "Johnnie" McGee, 2 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- John "Johnnie" McGee John "Johnnie" McGee, 96, Central Drive, Johnson City, died Friday, January 2, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Mr. McGee was a native of Washington County and the son of the late George W. and Hannah Sliger McGee. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, George McGee, Walter McGee, Vernie McGee, Ralph McGee and Guy McGee, and a sister, Lurie Treadway. Mr. McGee retired from the Bemberg Corporation as a mechanic after 43 years and was a farmer. He was one of the older members of Sinking Creek Baptist Church and the Central Community. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Daisy Crumley McGee, of the home; a daughter, Shirley McGee, of the home; a special sister-in-law, Ruby Leonard, of the home; sisters-in-law, Ruth Crumley, Pensacola, Fla., and Aida Crumley, Elizabethton; and a special nephew and his wife, Bob and Jeanette McGee, Stanley, N.C. Several other nephews and nieces also survive. A special thanks to Jason Bragg, Johnson City Medical Center Home Health Care Services. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, January 3, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Reece Harris officiating. Committal services and entombment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tom Crumley, Jerry McNeil, Chris Rosenbalm, Sam McAmis, Johnnie Crumley and Bob Townsend. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men's Sunday School Class of Sinking Creek Baptist Church, former employees of the Bemberg Corporation, friends and neighbors of the Central Community. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Friends may also call at the residence, 146 Central Drive, Johnson City, at any time.
