CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Martha Jane Miller McGee, 7 Oct 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Martha McGee Martha Jane Miller McGee, 86, 2529 Pine Street, Pelion, S.C., formerly of Phenix City, Ala., died Tuesday, October 7, 2003, in the Lexington Medical Center, Columbia, S.C. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William Avery and Mary Burton Miller. She had lived in Alabama for several years before going to South Carolina in July of this year. She was a graduate of the Watauga Academy, Butler, and attended business college. Mrs. McGee worked for the federal government for 30 years. She was a member of the Lakewood Baptist Church of Phenix City, Alabama. Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. McGee, March 4, 1996, by a sister and six brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Sheliah Gilpin and Karen McGee, both of Pelion, S.C.; a brother, Abe Miller, Longview, Wash.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Interment was in the Miller Family Cemetery, Butler. Pallbearers were selected from family and friends. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Condolences may be e-mailed to the McGee family at mfc@chartertn.net.
