McGuire 03/05/99 Mrs. Oma R. McGuire, 84, 8757 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. McGuire was a lifelong resident of Carter County and a daughter of the late John and Bessie Johnson Vance. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jacob D. McGuire, in 1982, a daughter, Connie M. Laws, three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. McGuire was a homemaker and a member of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church. Survivors include a son, James D. McGuire, Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Gladys M. Winters, Roan Mountain, and Delores M. Moses, Richmond, Va.; a brother, Howard Vance, Roan Mountain; and a sister, Nola Shell, Roan Mountain. Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements. McGUIRE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Oma R. McGuire, 84, 8757 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, who died Wednesday, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Henry Reynolds and Mr. Edward Morgan officiating. Music will be by the Harmony Strings. Interment will follow in the Richardson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected. The family will receive friends at the Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Friends may call at the residence any time.
