McKinney 09/14/99 Cleveland H. "Pee Wee" McKinney, 86, 136 John Taylor Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, September 13, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. McKinney was a life-long resident of the Gap Creek Community and the son of the late George Alexander and Lucy McKinney. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruella Marie McKinney, June 6, 1991, a daughter, Charlotte Ann McKinney, November 28, 1984, a brother, Dana McKinney, and a sister, Verna M. Collins. Mr. McKinney was a member of Big Spring Church of Christ. He was a former officer in the Carter County Republican Party, having served as an election official for many years, and was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation with 42 years of service. Survivors include two sons, Randy C. McKinney, of the home, and Michael L. McKinney, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. and Stephen B. Payne, Milligan College Community; three grandsons, James and Matthew McKinney and Alex Payne; two granddaughters, Krista M. Richardson and Kara McKinney; two great-granddaughters, Shellie and Mattison McKinney; a brother, Roy J. McKinney, Elizabethton; and a sister, Ruth M. Gregg, Johnson City. Four nieces also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. McKINNEY -- Funeral services for Cleveland H. "Pee Wee" McKinney, 86, 136 John Taylor Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Mr. Terry Lyons, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Charlotte Williams. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be James McKinney, Matthew McKinney, Alex Payne, Gary Nave, Larry Nave, Harold Dugger, Danny Smith, Vic Harrison, Jerry Hinkle and Joe Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be James Gregg, Charles Glover, Ralph McEwen, Douglas Hatley, Oscar Trivett, Allen Lowe, Rupert Range, John Kyte, Joe Emmert, Frank Jones, Gene Harper, Dr. David Hardin, Dr. John Freeman, Dr. David Fenner, Charles Hollowell, David Richardson, Jay Robbins, Harrison L. Farthing, Bruce Radford, Ronnie Radford, Bill Richardson, Calvin Tolley, Wayne Holtsclaw, Jack Dolan, Frank Taylor, the men of Big Spring Church of Christ, members of the Carter County Election Commission, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence any time. The family, friends, minister and pallbearers will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
