McKesson Mrs. Amelia "Big Mama" Taylor McKesson, 79, 125 Church Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, December 15, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. McKesson was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late George and Mary Johnson Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. McKesson Sr., in 1976, two brothers, George Oscar Taylor and Albert Gene Taylor, and by a sister, Helen Stover. Mrs. McKesson was a retired cook with Muncey Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City, and the Elizabethton City Schools. Mrs. McKesson was a member of Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church. Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Marylin and Fred Harris, Theresa and James Reddick, the Rev. Mrs. Jeanette Clark and her husband, Floyd, Darlene and Ronnie Haynes, all of Elizabethton, and Wilma and William Gilbert, Roanoke, Va., three sons and two daughters-in-law, Harry B. Jr. and Tanzy McKesson, Gary L. McKesson, Dennis J. and Alice McKesson, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Camelia Taylor and Geraldine Taylor, both of Elizabethton; and two brothers, Earl F. Taylor and Charles R. Taylor, both of Elizabethton. Seventeen grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, several special friends and a host of friends also survive. Herbert Scott, the Rev. Dennis Milligan, the Rev. R.M. Dickerson and the Rev. Ernest Widby officiating. Music will be by the Douglas Community Choir. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 20, in the Garden of Prayer at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Stover, Keith Trammell, Junior Trammell, Benny Taylor, Timmy Taylor, Shawn Earnest and Bobby Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Reginald Horton, Bobby Susong, John Wagner, Van Dobbins, Mike Lingerfelt, Harold Lingerfelt, Mark Lingerfelt and Mark Mills. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at any time.
