McClain Paul E. "Pat" McClain, 77, 601 Stuart Drive, Elizabethton, died Friday, December 8, 2000, at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. McClain was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Charles and Manila Banner McClain. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill McClain and Henry McLean, and three sisters, Lillie McClain, Eleanor Randazzo and Essie Souder. Mr. McClain was a member of the Valley Forge United Methodist Church, where he attended the Men's Adult Sunday School Class. He was employed by the Whirlpool Corporation for 34 years and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in World War II. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Winnie Julian McClain, of the home; a daughter, Bonnie Fennessy, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, John McClain, Clyde, Ohio, and Charles McClain, Lima, Ohio; and a sister, Dicie Hays, Sweetwater, Tenn. Seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. "Pat" McClain, 77, 601 Stuart Drive, Elizabethton, who died Friday, December 8, 2000, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 10, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Lon Tobin and the Rev. John McClain officiating. Music will be under the direction of Larey and Chris Pippin, Betty Bristol and Tammy Simerly, soloists, Miss Judy Little, pianist, and Mrs. Trilla Little, organist. Committal and entombment services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 11, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by the Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be Paul McClain, Brian McClain, Jeff Piotrowski, Alvin McKinney, Jim Chaney and Danny Little. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Benefiel, Scott Benefiel, Paul Hopson, William L. Smith and the Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Valley Forge United Methodist Church. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
