McLaney 2/14/00 Mrs. Edith Elizabeth McLaney, 76, 165 Fox Hollow Lane, Bluff City, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in North Side Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Anderson and Rose Woodby Shepherd. Mrs. McLaney was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Shepherd; and a sister, Louise Casey. She was a retired employee of the Zone Aire Corp., Johnson City. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Utopia Chapter No. 27, Order of Eastern Star, Piney Flats. She was a member of the Mountain View Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Clarence McLaney; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Carolyn McLaney, Bluff City; two sisters: Ethel Coleman, Telford; and Dorothy Harrell, Elizabethton; two brothers: Robert Shepherd, Elizabethton; and John Shepherd, Watauga; one granddaughter, Jacqueline Feathers, Piney Flats; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. McLaney -- Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Elizabeth McLaney, 76, 165 Fox Hollow Lane, Bluff City, who died Friday, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Mack Bennett and Mr. Wayne Boswell, ministers, officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the McLaney Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, will be Terry Proffitt, Roger Nidiffer, Luther Bare, Eric Hughes, John Feathers, Osler Feathers, Robert Hyatt and Richard Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Proffitt, Kenny Proffitt, Benny Webb, Kyle Webb, her church family and her Eastern Star friends. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Sunday. A special "thank you" to the staff of the 5200 wing of Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. David Tabor and his staff and Dr. Guy Robins and his staff. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
