McCurry George Timothy McCurry, 78, 1349 Rittertown Road, Hampton, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in the Life Care Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Montie and Savannah Callahan McCurry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Townsend McCurry in 1976 and by 12 brothers and sisters. Mr. McCurry was employed for a number of years at Campbell Service Station, Hampton. He retired from the Carter County Highway Department. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Johnny Glover, Hampton; two sisters, Kathleen Cook of Georgia and Bernice Stanley, Elk Park, N.C.; two brothers, Bynum McCurry, Roan Mountain, and Jake McCurry of Georgia; three granddaughters: Penny McCurry, Melissa Arnold, and Kristin Glover; one great-granddaughter, Megan Brooke Arnold; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. MCCURRY -- Funeral services for George Timothy McCurry, 78, 1349 Rittertown Road, Hampton, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry McCurry officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Saturday will be Carl Brown, Rick Arnold, Johnny McKinney, Bobby Rainbolt, Zane Church, and Verlin Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Carter County Highway Department, Ford Townsend, Harlin Hill and Jerry Campbell. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Saturday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
