CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ossie Range Meredith, 13 Nov 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Ossie Meredith Mrs. Ossie Range Meredith, 95, Jim Elliott Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, November 13, 2003, in the Hermitage Health Care. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Etta Pearce Range. Mrs. Meredith was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. She had been an active member of the Gap Creek Christian Church for 70 years, having taught Sunday school, served as the church treasurer and involved in the Ladies Circle of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lawrence Meredith, October 25, 1976, and by six sisters. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-Law, Larry and Lesley Meredith, Rio Vista, Calif., Gary Meredith, Elizabethton, and Carroll and Gail Meredith, Johnson City; three sisters, Kate Sams and Gretchen Whittemore, both of Elizabethton, and Nellie Pospeich, Inverness, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Gap Creek Christian Church, 1840 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, with Mr. Ray Giles, Mr. Rocky Maines and Mr. Roland Whittimore officiating. Graveside Service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Mr. Bobby McGee will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 7:50 p.m. Saturday and the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Anthony Lyons, Larry Miller, Bobby McGee, John McGee, Steve Meredith, Mark Meredith, Rick Meredith and Russell Meredith. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family, the staff of Hermitage Health Care, Dr. Charles Allen, friends and neighbors. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Gap Creek Christian Church. Friends may also call at the residence of Gary Meredith, 135 Jim Elliott Road, Elizabethton. For those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Meredith to the Gap Creek Christian Church Building Fund, 1840 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
