Miller James Lon Miller, 94, 145 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, died Monday, November 12, 2001, at Hillview Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Miller was a native of Carter County and a son of the late A.J. and Delia Chambers Miller. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Will M. Miller and John J. Miller, and four sisters, Kate Grindstaff, Mary Boling, Belle Morrell and Roxie Jaye Gouge. Mr. Miller had lived in Oregon for a number of years before returning to Carter County. He was a retired lumberman and a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Elsie Ruth Harvie and Jean Murray, both of Oregon; a son, James L. Miller Jr., of Oregon; and a half sister, Rhoda McKinney, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
