CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Julia Whitehead Miller, 27 Jun 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Julia W. Miller Mrs. Julia Whitehead Miller, 86, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, formerly of Courtyard Apartments, Elizabethton, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Ivy Hall. Mrs. Miller was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Isaac and Cecilia Hughes Whitehead. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edgar Miller; three brothers; three sisters; a grandson, David Paul Miller; a great-granddaughter, Goldie G. Miller; and her special friend, Sarah Williams. Mrs. Miller was a member of Valley Forge House of Prayer. She was a longtime member of WOTM No. 1606. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie R. and Barbara Miller, Elizabethton, and James E. and Stony Miller, Butler; three daughters, Mildred Pittman and Margaret Burchett, both of Indiana, and Barbara Cable, Elizabethton; and a sister, Arizona Hopson, Hampton. Thirteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. MILLER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Whitehead Miller, 86, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, formerly of Courtyard Apartments, Elizabethton, who died Friday, June 27, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Richardson and the Rev. C.W. Snodgrass officiating. Music will be provided by Brenda Loveless, April Johnson and Tom Swafford. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, in the Whitehead Cemetery, Hampton. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday, will be Charles Hilton, Andy Hilton, Jason Banner, Gary Smith, John Browbel, Brian Ferrell and Tom Swafford. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Miller II, Steven S. Miller, James D. Miller, Jimmy Whitehead, Rodney Whitehead and Phillip Whitehead. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a son, Eddie Miller, 120 Jefferson Lane, Elizabethton (Liberty Subdivision.)
