CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Marie L. Millsaps, 4 Apr 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Marie L. Millsaps, 81, Treadway Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Millsaps was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Wilburn G. and Fannie White Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin H. Millsaps, in 1977, two brothers, Don Lewis and Ivan Lewis, and two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Dove Williams. Mrs. Millsaps was a former Director of the Neighborhood Service Center through the Carter County Human Development Service Agency. She was a member of Doe River Baptist Church and the W.M.U. of Doe River Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Alvina Thompson, Elizabethton, and Cindy and Ed Dance, Piney Flats; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Amy Millsaps, Johnson City; a sister, Wilma White, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Donna Buchanan, Mark Strong, Sheila Ferguson, Sarah Presnell and Rachel Williams, all of Elizabethton, Alex Dance, Piney Flats, and Austin Millsaps, Johnson City; and five great-grandchildren, Zachary Ensor, Nicki Ferguson, Heather Strong, Josh Strong and Daniel Strong, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service for Mrs. Millsaps will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Lindsay officiating. Music will be under the direction of John Williams, soloist, and Trilla Little, organist. Honorary pallbearers will be her special caretaker and friend, Marie Strong, Dr. Alan Forbush and his nurse, Gail, Dr. David Hecht and all the I.C.U. Staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and all friends and neighbors on Treadway Street, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime. A private inurnment service will be held on Friday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Doe River Baptist Church, 113 Avon Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
