A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John and Mabel Sonny Wellborn. Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Morgan. She was a member of the Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters: Judy Whitehead, Hampton; and Tressa Morgan, Roan Mountain; three sons: the Rev. David Morgan, Kingsport; Terry Morgan, Jonesborough; and Steven Morgan, Kingsport; two sisters: Frances Hamilton, Courtyard Apartments, Elizabethton; and Jean Glover, Knoxville; 11 grandchildren, one grandson and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. MORGAN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Morgan, 72, 161 Jimmy Orr Road, Roan Mountain, who died Friday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, with the Revs. Orville Williams and David Morgan officiating. Graveside and interment will be in the Captain Nelson Cemetery, with the Rev. Ronda Street officiating. Karen Briggs will provide the music. Active pallbearers will be Michael Hill and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be men of Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also call in the fellowship hall of Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church or the residence of a daughter, Judy Whitehead, 1198 Rittertown Road, Hampton.
