Fred Morrell 06/01/99 J. Fred Morrell, 76, 204 Hunter Hills Circle #3, Bristol, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Morrell was a native of Carter County and moved to Bristol in 1970. He retired from Univac in 1985. Mr. Morrell was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the M.M. Martin Masonic Lodge #547 in Piney Flats and a member of the Jericho Shrine Temple. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the Elizabethton VFW Post #2166. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Survivors include his wife, Viola E. Morrell; a daughter, Karen DeWitt, Bluff City; a son, James R. Morrell, Nashville; three sisters, Ina Mae Williams and Barbara Roe, both of Elizabethton, and Georgia Moore, Big Stone Gap, Va.; and a brother, Nat D. Morrell, Knoxville. Three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Committal services and interment were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton. Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, 2223 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, (423) 764-7123, was in charge of arrangements.
