CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mary F. Morton, 22 Feb 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Mary F. Morton Mary F. Morton, 87, South Second Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, February 22, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Roan Mountain, Mrs. Morton was the daughter of the late Henry and Jane Hill Johnson. She was a member of Slagle's United Methodist Church and the Ladies Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith Morton, in 1988, and by four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Jane Hyder, Elizabethton, and Jewell and Tony Hughes, Elizabethton; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jack and Kathy Morton, Elizabethton; one brother, Sam Johnson, Elizabethton; five grandchildren and spouses, Randy and Diane Hyder, Watauga; Lawana and Tony Slagle, Elizabethton; Calvin Hyder, Elizabethton; Robert Jack Hughes, Elizabethton, and Michael Hughes, Elizabethton, and two great-grandchildren, Chesnee Slagle and Elizabeth Slagle, both of Elizabethton. Morton, 87, South Second Street, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, February 22, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2003 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Manis officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jackie Kelly. The graveside service and interment will be held Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Rick Hardin, David Bowery, Jack Rocker, Tony Bowers, Tom Hilton, Lon David, Kenny Kelly, Chris Slagle, Rusty Slagle, and Bill Ragle. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ken Kelly, Bill Jaynes, Mike Langlois, Sonny Slagle, Jeff Crowe and nephews. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
