CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Goldie Ruth Mottern, 5 Jul 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Goldie R. Mottern Mrs. Goldie Ruth Mottern, 91, of the Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City, died Saturday, July 5, 2003 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Mottern was a native of Konnarock, Va. and a life long resident of Carter County. She was the daughter of the late Ellis and Nancy Holloway Davis. She was a retired employee of American Bemberg Corporation and was a member of the Brick Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Mottern; by a son, Carroll Lee Mottern; by two brothers, Homer Davis and Karl Davis, and by two sisters, Pearl Morris and Mae Little. Survivors include four grandsons, Lee Anderson Mottern, of San Antonio, Texas; Charles Albert Mottern, of Lake Wales, Fla.; Thomas Carroll Mottern, of Elizabethton, and David Hoyle Mottern, of Bartow, Fla.; one granddaughter, Leesa Mechelle Mottern Tulp, of Houston, Texas; 10 great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, Deven Michael Wallace. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive. Arrangements are under the direction of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home. MOTTERN -- Graveside services for Mrs. Goldie Ruth Mottern, 91, of the Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City, who died on Saturday, July 5, 2003, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Mottern and Kenneth Hayes. The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003.
