Motz Geneva Hinkle Motz, 78, 403 E. Fairview Avenue, Johnson City, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Motz was a native of Carter County and had lived in Johnson City since 1927. She was a daughter of the late Herbert and Bessie Jane Honeycutt Barnett and was also preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Frank Hinkle, two brothers, Zeb Barnett and R.J. Barnett, and two sisters, Edith Holtsclaw and Mary Etta Brewer. Mrs. Motz was a homemaker and a Methodist. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Motz; five daughters, Helen Sue Brown. Fishersville, Va., Bessie Lou Bageant and Jacquelyn Annette Hawkins, both of Johnson City, Dolores Ann Jackson, Monrovia, Md., and Mary Edith Cole, Hampton; and two sons, Paul Edward Hinkle, Hampton, and James Hubert Hinkle, Johnson City. Five grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, (423) 282-1521, is in charge of arrangements. MOTZ -- Funeral services for Geneva Hinkle Motz, 78, 403 E. Fairview Avenue, Johnson City, who died Sunday, July 30, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, from the Morris-Baker South Chapel with Rev. Bill Ponder officiating. Committal services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the residence.
